Do I need to add Tags?

No, tags are optional, you can add files without Tags - when performing a search, Tagg will match your search criteria against the tag title, file name and file path and not just the tags.

Does Tagg change my physical files?

No, Tagg only stores pointers to your files and will never change or move files. Tagg does allow you to copy files but the original file is left untouched.
When Removing Tags remember that only the pointer to the file is being removed from Tagg's database and not the physical file.

Can I tag multiple files at once?

Yes, you can add and update/remove multiple tagged files by shift-selecting the items in the 'Tag Files' and 'Search Database' screens.

What happens to my database when I uninstall?

How do I set up Tagg to be used over a network?

Install and run Tagg Click on the 'Create Database' button in the toolbar Enter a name for the new database i.e. 'Tagg Shared Database' Click on the folder icon to select where this database should be created, this location has to be on a shared resource which all users have access to. Tick the 'Share this database' checkbox Click the ok button to create the database file.

Once the shared database file has been created the next step is to make this database available to all Tagg users.

To do this, run Tagg on the users' machine. Select the 'Add Existing DB' button in the toolbar and select the newly created database.

The final step is to load the newly added database, to do this click the 'Select Database' button, select the shared database then click the 'OK' button.

Perform this process for each Tagg user.

To facilitate better shared database support, you can now tell Tagg where to look for it's tag structures making it possible to share hierarchical tags structures as well as databases.

To share tag structures you will need to create a directory called 'tag-structs' on a shared resource.

If you already have some existing tag struct xml files you wish to share, simply copy them into this directory.

You know need to change the configuration of each Tagg user to point to this new directory, to do this select the 'Options' button from the toolbar.

Select the tab called 'Tag Structures', next click on the button called 'Change' and select the newly created directory. You will need to repeat this process on each user's machine.
